DepEd-2 all set to welcome 10K athletes, guests for CAVRAA 2018

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) here is in the thick of preparations to ensure a successful conduct of the annual Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association (CAVRAA) meet to be held at the Cagayan Valley sports complex from Feb. 23 to 28.

DepEd-Region 2 information officer Ferdinand Narciso said Monday the expected 10,000 participants and guests will come from the provinces of Batanes, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, defending champion Cagayan and the cities of Tuguegarao, Ilagan, Cauayan and Santiago.

The City of Tuguegarao, he said, is happy to host the sports fest this year for the region’s elementary and secondary students as this would help the province in pursuing its eco-tourism, sports development and economic programs.

Narciso encouraged the participants to unite and conserve the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship even when they try to outdo each other in the various sports competitions.

He said through the holding of CAVRAA, the region will be able to select the athletes who can best represent it in national competitions and possibly even international sports events.

DepEd officials recently visited Tuguegarao to supervise the preparations for the sports event, especially to check on the accommodation of the delegates, Narciso said. (Simeon Dilan/PNA)
