DepEd-Bicol to kick off Brigada Eskwela on May 28

LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) in Bicol will kick off this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” program in Barcelona town in Sorsogon province on May 28.

DepEd Bicol regional information officer Mayflor Marie Jumamil, in an interview Thursday, said they chose Barcelona town to be the host of this year’s regional launching of the school clean-up program to give the community credit for institutionalizing it in their town.

“All the 25 villages of Barcelona made resolutions to support Brigada Eskwela program by giving at least PHP20,000 each as donations,” she said.

The amount of the donation will be given by the villages every year to the DepEd official.

DepEd Undersecretary Tomasito Umali and Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero will be the guests of honor in the occasion which will be participated in by the officials of the town and Sorsogon province.

The launching of the school clean-up program will start with a motorcade scheduled at 5 a.m. on May 28 from the regional office of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) inside Camp Genneral Simeon Ola in this city.

The formal opening of the program would start upon the arrival of the motorcade in Barcelona town.

Jumamil said OCD regional director Gen. Claudio Yucot offered to be their partner agency for this year’s “Brigada Eskwela”, as his office would also launch its resilience caravan.

She added they hope the activities will be supported by other partner agencies in the Bicol region. (PNA)
