DepEd: Full face-to-face classes begin Nov. 2

By Gabriela Baron

More than two years after the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to close, full face-to-face classes will now resume on Nov. 2, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced Tuesday, July 12.

Starting Nov. 2, all public and private schools should have transitioned to five days of in-person classes, according to the DepEd Order (DO) signed by Vice President Sara Duterte.

Public and private schools will only be allowed to hold blended learning and full-distance learning until Oct. 31.

“After the said date, no school shall be allowed to implement purely distance learning or blended learning for those that are implementing Alternative Delivery Modes,” the DO read.

“This DO shall apply regardless of the COVID-19 alert level imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or the Department of Health in areas where schools are located,” it further read.

The school year 2022-2023 will start on Aug. 22 and end on July 7, 2023. All schools are expected to hold 203 days of classes.

Meanwhile, enrollment for the upcoming school year will be from July 25 to Aug. 22, while the Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela will be from Aug. 1 to 26 and Aug. 15, respectively. – ag
