DepEd to hold 2017 National Literacy Conference

PASIG CITY, November 7, 2017 –   Exploring the current local and international trends and innovations in digital literacy; exchanging experiences in utilizing digital interventions in literacy programs for lifelong learning; and promoting the wide use of information and communication technologies in implementing literacy programs and practices are this years’ goals and objectives for the National Literacy Conference (NLC).

Anchored on the theme “Lifelong Learning in a Digital World,” the three-day conference will be held at the Oriental Legazpi in Legazpi City, Albay, to be participated by registered and identified representatives of the Department of Education (DepEd) and its field offices, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and other non-government organizations (NGOs).

Spearheaded by DepEd’s Literacy Coordinating Council (LCC), the event consists of various plenary sessions slated on November 8 to 9.

Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Lorna Dig Dino emphasized that one of the highlights of the conference is the keynote message of Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones.

The annual conduct of the NLC is pursuant to Republic Act 7165, s.1991 which aims to provide a venue for sharing experiences in implementing literacy programs and projects for the development of the community.
