MANILA — The Department of Education (DepEd) is set to gather ICT practitioners, leaders, policy-makers, achievers in ICT education, and other stakeholders nationwide for The National DepEd ICT Summit from Feb. 27 to 28 at The Blue Leaf Filipinas in Parañaque City.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the summit, anchored on the theme “Digital Transformation for the KID (K to 12 + Alternative Learning System (ALS), ICT, and DepEd),” will serve as a venue to tackle information and pressing matters that will help further advance the ICT in the field of education and ensure its alignment with the K to 12 curriculum.

The national summit, which is a culminating activity of a series of regional ICT summits, aims to update ICT practitioners in DepEd on emerging technologies and to start the culture of sharing and collaboration of ICT in teaching, learning, and governance.

It further aims to provide a forum to update everyone on current and future ICT projects and implementations in DepEd, and recognize ICT best projects and implementers through the ICT Innovations Awards.

The areas for discussion in the summit include: the DepEd ICT masterplan; integrating technology with classroom teaching in the Philippine context; educational technology leadership for the K to 12 Program; digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and data privacy; educational tools for the 21st century classroom; and robotics and education.
