DepEd, PSC collaborate in establishing National Academy of Sports

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will collaborate in establishing and implementing the National Academy of Sports.

According to DepEd Undersecretary for Field Operations and Palarong Pambansa Secretariat Revsee Escobedo, DepEd and PSC have already coordinated in the initial preparation for the establishment of the said academy.

Escobedo disclosed that DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones will serve as the chairperson of the NAS while PSC Chairman William Ramirez will take the position of vice chairperson.

The establishment of NAS aims to implement high quality secondary education with a special curriculum for sports. President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed the National Sports Academy Act in June 2020.
