The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is gearing up for the launch of the eGov Super App, which will ensure the digitalization of government systems in the Philippines.

Last March, the House of Representatives approved the HB House Bill (HB) No. 7327 “An Act institutionalizing the transition of the government to E-Governance in the digital age, creating for the purpose the Philippine Infostructure Management Corp. and appropriating funds therefor”.

“Susunod na session po namin ay sa Senado at maipasa itong batas na ito para ma-sustain po lahat ng initiative ng DICT for the digitalization,” DICT Assistant Secretary Edwin Ligot said.

Ligot said the eGov Super App is already under beta testing before its formal launch.

As of now, the agency is prioritizing the implementation of national broadband and free WIFI to provide better access and understanding of the app.

“Para po mabigyan ng internet access ang ating mga kababayan para din po nila ma-realize yung super app na ila-launch or ma-test din nila yung super app bago natin ma-formalize,” he added.

Ligot also noted the importance of understanding digitalization.

“Madaling gumawa ng sistema, madaling gumawa ng connectivity, but yung mindset kung paano gamitin yung sistema is another story,” he said.

Meanwhile, the DICT assured the public that it is implementing layers of security to further protect the personal information of Filipinos. -ag
