DICT urges telcos to utilize Common Tower Initiative

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has urged telecommunication companies to take advantage of the Common Tower Initiative to help establish new cell sites and improve the internet service in the Philippines.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II shared that the telcos can “cut back on their expenses” due to the Common Towers Initiative since their expenses “can be used to further upgrade their services.”

He added that the Common Tower Initiative is “further bolstered by the provisions” of the joint memorandum circular among the DICT, Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other concerned agencies that paves the way for faster processing and fewer requirements in establishing the common towers. – PTV News
