DILG: Keep students at home while class is suspended

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed the Local Government Units (LGUs), Philippine National Police (PNP) and barangay captains to keep students away from malls and other crowded places to avoid contracting Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, police officers can reprimand or send students home to do their school works instead. The DILG Secretary has also asked parents to monitor their children and not let them go out.

He added that the class suspension is deemed useless if the students will just loiter.

The DILG Secretary also urged the mayors of Metro Manila to avoid gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
