DILG: Reported ‘ayuda’ stoppage in Bataan, Laguna not true

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) belied reports on stopping cash aid distribution in Bataan and Laguna with their quarantine de-escalation to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

DILG spokesperson USec. Jonathan Malaya led the cash aid distribution  to affected residents in Bataan on Aug. 24, where he refuted the circulating claims. Bataan and Laguna were recently placed under ECQ.

More than 700,000 families will receive financial assistance from the government. The Bataan provincial government said other forms of assistance will be provided as the Delta variant remains a threat to the province.

“Noong nakaraang linggo, nagpamigay kami ng kalahating kilo ng bigas sa bawat bahay. Ang munisipyo nagbigay ng relief goods, at ang barangay ay may nakaabang na kusina sa barangay,” Gov. Albert Garcia said.

Bataan has still two weeks to complete its cash aid distribution.

On the other hand, the National Capital Region (NCR) has been given until Aug. 25 to finish their payout. Malaya said a meeting has been set following the extension request of four NCR cities.

Meanwhile, the DILG has instructed all local government units to strengthen their active case finding after the health department confirmed delta community transmission in NCR and Calabarzon.

“Ang gusto natin, iklian natin ‘yung period from the time na ma-detect ‘yung kaso, ‘yung isolation, ‘yung quarantine, at ‘yung testing niya must be done within the next 24 hours,” Malaya said. – Report from Bea Bernardo/AG-rir
