Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. ordered on Monday, Jan. 23, the agency’s regional and provincial offices to investigate the alleged harassment of an onion farmer in Pangasinan.

Abalos vowed that the DILG would immediately give an update on the results of the investigation.

“We have a lot of respect for farmers, because the role they played in the food security, and proper nutrition of our country is important,” Abalos said.

“Do expect the DILG to be united in the cause of our President Ferdianand R. Marcos, Jr. for the agricultural sector, including focusing on programs to develop and support farmers,” he added. -gb
