DILG to serve show cause orders to 43 mayors

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will issue show cause orders to 43 mayors who failed to complete the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) aid distribution.

According to DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, majority of the mayors who will be served a show cause order are from Western Visayas, MIMAROPA, Central Visayas and the NCR. They have an accomplishment rate of 79 percent and below.

DILG Sec. Año stated that the public has the right to know the reasons of the mayors behind the unfinished distribution of the SAP aid despite extending the deadline.

The DILG has tasked the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the alleged irregularities in the distribution of the SAP subsidy committed by the mayors. They may face charges of graft and corruption if proven guilty.
