DOE doubles efforts to promote energy efficiency, conservation

By Myris Lee

The Department of Energy (DOE) has launched the “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Information Campaign: Enerhiyang Atin” early this month, in collaboration with the Presidential Communication Office (PCOO).

DOE Energy Utilization Bureau Executive Director Patrick Aquino said the goal of the campaign is to inform the public on how to conserve energy, as well as its efficient utilization to lessen its negative impacts on the environment.

“Layon nitong bigyan ang ating publiko ng kaalaman at mga impormasyon tungo sa mas masinop na paggamit ng enerhiya at pag-deploy natin at paggamit ng renewable energy at iyong mga bagong teknolohiya, halimbawa po ng electric vehicles,” Aquino said.

The campaign is an interactive activity held in malls all over the country, and was rolled out first in SM City-BF Parañaque.

On May 19, the event was staged in SM Cebu and SM Olongapo, while the next event will be held next week at SM City Davao and SM City Sta. Rosa.

“Kapag bumisita tayo sa ating mga kiosk, mayroon tayong makikitang mga produkto, mayroon  tayong mga interactive events,” he said.

Meanwhile, DOE has created an application called “City of Energia” that can be downloaded in Google Play and Apple Store, providing information about energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other government energy programs. – ag
