DOE implements 15-day price freeze in areas under SOC

The Department of Energy (DOE) implemented a 15-day price freeze on kerosene and household liquefied petroleum gas in areas under state of calamity.

In an advisory, the DOE announced that the price freeze on the said items is effective from November 1 to 15 but its effectivity date in Camarines Sur is from November 2 to 16.

According to DOE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella, basic energy products are not allowed to increase or decrease prices in areas that declared state of calamity in accordance with the RA 7581 or the Price Act.

The Energy department warned violators of the price freeze that they may face a penalty of 1 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of PhP 5,000 to PhP 1,000,000.
