DOF to shut down POGOs with tax liabilities

Department of Finance (DOF) Secetary Carlos Dominguez III has instructed the Bureau of Internal Revenue to shut down Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) that will not pay taxes. The order came amid slow collection of withholding income taxes from these companies. The government has already sent 130 letter notices to POGO enterprises with tax liabilities reaching PhP21.62 billion.
