DOH aims to flatten COVID-19 curve by increasing testing capacity, healthcare system

The Department of Health (DOH) is continuously exerting efforts to increase the testing capacity and healthcare system with the aim of flattening the COVID-19 curve in the Philippines.

As part of the agency’s efforts, 10 laboratories are now on full implementation for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing while almost 70 laboratories are being processed and awaiting accreditation.

The Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and the World Trade Center are scheduled to start operations as quarantine facilities this week to accommodate patients positive for COVID-19 with asymptomatic to mild symptoms.

The DOH has also started coordinating with the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines for the production of 10,000 coveralls per day. The production is expected to help the frontliners amid the lack of PPEs. – Report from Mark Fetalco
