Malacañang and the Department of Health (DOH) have assured several “Doctors to the Barrios” that safety measures will be set in place once they are deployed in Metro Manila.
Apprehensions of several DTTBs have reached the government. They do not want to be a substitute team in the metro, even if it is voluntary, since they will leave their patients behind. They also fear being carriers of the virus once they go back to their respective hometowns.
(We will take care of them in case we deploy. We will set safety measures in place so they will not transmit the disease and get it),” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque urged them to remember their sworn duty.
(If you are a professional, you know what to do. As a doctor, a medical professional, their job is to save lives and I believe that they will be faithful to their sworn duty).”
