DOH Calabarzon turns over 9 ambulance units to Rizal towns

MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH)-Calabarzon on Wednesday turned over nine ambulance units to local government units (LGUs) of Taytay, Binangonan, and Cainta, all in Rizal province.

DOH-Calabarzon Regional Director Eduardo Janairo the said ambulances will help transport patients like birthing women and injured persons who need immediate medical attention.

“So this is part of the service delivery network na napakaimportante para matugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga pasyente lalo na sa panahon ng emergency and disasters (So this is part of service delivery network which is very important in providing immediate response to patients, especially in times of emergencies and disasters),” Janairo told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

During the ceremony held at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, the DOH turned over four ambulance units to Taytay while Cainta got three units and Binangonan received two ambulance units, which comprised the fourth batch of ambulance units given to the region.

In April this year, the DOH also distributed the initial batches of ambulance units to municipalities in Batangas, Laguna, and Quezon.

To date, a total of 36 ambulances have been distributed by the DOH Calabarzon.

There were a total of 49 ambulances procured by the region for the program, with a budget allocation amounting to PHP81 million.

The remaining 13 units will be distributed to other selected recipient hospitals in the provinces in the region.

“An ambulance is really best for them especially those who really need to be admitted in hospitals,” Janairo said.

In his message, Taytay, Rizal Mayor George Ricardo Gacula said he was thankful for the three ambulance units provided by the regional office of DOH.

Ingatan namin at makatitiyak kayo na ito ay gagamitin sa tamang pamamaraan para makapaglingkod lalung-lalo na sa mahihirap na mamayan ng aming bayan (Rest assured that we will take care of the units and we assure you that these will be used for its real purpose),” Gacula said. (Leilani Junio/PNA)
