DOH discourages processed foods, pushes for healthier diet for kids

With 13.4% Filipino youth aged six months to 2 years old receiving minimum acceptable diet, far behind the targeted 20.3% by the government, the Department of Health (DOH) advocates sound food planning for children and emphasizes the massive benefits of breastfeeding for babies. The state also plans to dispense dietary supplements to pregnant women and to children aged six months to two years old. The Philippine Development Plan until 2022 will also be updated. Its implementation calls for a US$1 billion budgetary allocation from the government.
