DOH logs highest number of recoveries at 72K

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded the Philippines’ highest number of new COVID-19 recoveries at 72,607  today (April 18), bringing the total number of survivors to 779,084.

The department said these figures are equivalent to a recovery rate of 83.2%. 

As of April 18 there are 10,098 new cases and 150 deaths pushing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 936,133, with 141,089 active cases and 15,960 fatalities. These numbers put the rate of active cases at 15.1% and the death rate at 1.70%. 

Of the active cases today, about 96.7 percent are mild, 1.7 percent are asymptomatic, 0.7 percent are severe, 0.43 are moderate, and 0.5 percent are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the department also said that the country’s utilization rate of intensive care unit beds is at 68%, isolation beds at 49%, ward beds at 56%, and ventilators at 47%. 

The public is reminded to stay home and observe minimum health standards when going out. Those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are urged to immediately isolate and contact the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams. – jlo
