In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said recoveries account for 95.5% of the total case count which has reached 2,720,368 since the start of the pandemic last year.

Meanwhile, some 6,913 new infections brought the total number of active cases nationwide to 81,641.

About 82% of these active cases are mild, 5.5% are asymptomatic, 1.6% are critical, 3.8% are severe, and 7.13% are moderate.

Moreover, 95 new deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll due to the coronavirus to 40,675.

According to DOH data on Oct. 17, about 12.5% of 53,669 who were tested turned out positive for COVID-19.

“About 54 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 35 are recoveries,” it added.

All laboratories were operational on Oct. 15 while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
