DOH, nagbabala ukol sa heat stroke

Nagbabala ang Department of Health (DOH) ukol sa heat stroke ngayong tag-init.

Naitala ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) ang pinakamataas na heat index ngayong taon pagpasok ng Abril, at maaari pa raw itong tumaas sa susunod na mga araw. 

Ayon sa ahensiya, kapag umabot ang temperatura sa 41- 54°C ay maaring magdulot ito ng heat stroke at heat exhaustion.

Ipinaliwanag ng DOH na ang pagkahilo, pagpapawis, panlalamig ng kamay, mabilis ngunit mahinang pulso, at pagkahimatay ay sintomas ng heat exhaustion. 

Ang heat stroke naman ay maaaring magdulot ng sakit ng ulo na may pagpitik ng pulso, at kadalasan nito ay walang pawis, tuyo ang balat, mainit ang mukha, at maaaring sumuka.

“Kapag heat exhaustion po, ang ina-advise lang natin siyempre magpahinga under the shade or in a cooler temperature, tapos iaangat lang ‘yung paa para ma-promote po ‘yung circulation, tapos siyempre inom ng water,” payo ni DOH Diseases Prevention and Control Bureau Director Dr. Beverly Ho.

Itinuturing namang isang medical emergency ang heat stroke na kahit bata, matanda, atleta, o pangkaraniwang tao ay maaaring tamaan.

Kung may makitang taong inaatake nito, ipwesto sa malilim na lugar, painumin ng tubig, tanggalan ng damit, at maglagay ng yelo sa kilikili, pulso, at bukong-bukong, at dalhin agad sa pinakamalapit na ospital.
