DOH recorded new BA.5, BA.4, BA.2.12.1 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, Aug. 12, reported a total of 225 new cases of COVID-19 Omicron sub-variants. 

Based on the latest DOH report, COVID-19 cases are continuously increasing in most areas in the country, while the National Capital Region (NCR) exhibited a slight downward trend.

A total of 190 individuals were detected with Omicron BA.5 subvariant where most of the confirmed cases came from Region 11 with 162, followed by Region 12 with 23 confirmed cases.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has recorded three cases, while Caraga and NCR have recorded one positive case each.

Region 12 has recorded additional 34 BA.4 cases, while 11 positive cases were also recorded from Region 11.

One case from Region 11 also tested positive for BA.2.12.1.

DOH reported that the majority of admissions remained to be asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 cases.  -ag
