DOH reminds public to avoid spraying and misting for COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to avoid spraying and misting after the death of a Philippine National Police (PNP) doctor due to the accidental spraying of a toxic disinfectant in a Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) facility. The investigation on the incident is still ongoing.

According to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, there is still no evidence to prove that disinfectants can kill the virus.

“To date, there is insufficient evidence to support large-scale misting, fogging or spraying both indoors and outdoors, as an effective disinfection or decontamination strategy in non-health care settings that kills the virus which causes COVID-19.”
