DOH to conduct mass vaccination vs polio in October

The Department of Health (DOH) has asked the World Health Organization (WHO) for a supply of monovalent vaccine to prevent type 2 polio, which is expected to arrive in October, in time for the mass vaccination program to be conducted in Manila . This comes after the agency confirmed two cases of polio. A 3-year old girl in Lanao del Sur and a 5-year old boy in Laguna are infected with vaccine derived polio type 2. The DOH is currently conducting a synchronized door-to-door activity, giving oral polio vaccines to children 5 years old and below.
