The Department of Health (DOH) warned on Monday, April 3, against a circulating post using the name of Health Undersecretary Enrique “Eric” Tayag.

In an advisory, DOH clarified that there is no scenario or statement made by the department and its officials.

It also advised the public against a local news agency being used to create fabricated quotes, supposedly from Tayag.

In the false quote, Tayag was claiming that he and his colleagues have found “an effective way to treat diabetes” and that pills and injections cannot completely cure the disease.

“[The] Department reminds everyone that non-communicable diseases and comorbidities such as diabetes can be prevented by practicing healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle such as proper diet and exercise among others,” DOH stressed.

“Be sure to regularly have check-ups and consult your physician to help supplement and keep sickness at bay,” it added.

The Health department also called on the public to get sources of information from legitimate sources and platforms. – cf
