DOJ chief lauds SWS survey showing Cabinet ‘good’ satisfaction rating

MANILA — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Saturday welcomed the “good” satisfaction ratings obtained by the Cabinet officials of President Rodrigo Duterte based on a recent latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) report.

Guevarra attributed the improved net satisfaction ratings of the Cabinet to efforts being made against the soaring inflation rate.

“I think it’s because the people are aware that the cabinet secretaries are doing their best to address the inflation problem,” Guevarra said in a text message to reporters when sought for a comment.

He added that the improved net satisfaction ratings can also be attributed to “the heightened drive against corruption, and the revival of Boracay.”

Guevarra believes he and fellow Cabinet members should continue to work harder so that they can achieve better public perception.

“The latest net satisfaction rating of the cabinet, though substantially improved, should rise as closely as possible to the President’s net satisfaction rating, as each cabinet member is an alter ego of the president,” he stated.

Based on a survey conducted Sept. 15 to 23 and published on Saturday, the Cabinet scored 32, up by six points.

The six-point improvement the Cabinet’s rating was due to increases of 11 points in Balance Luzon, eight points in Mindanao, and six points in the Visayas, combined with a five-point decrease in Metro Manila.

By class, it rose from moderate to good among class D, up by 12 points from 21 in June to 33 in September.

It fell, however, from good to moderate among class E, down by four points from 33 to 21. It fell by two grades from very good to moderate among classes ABC, down by 29 points from 56 to 27.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
