Following earlier remarks from Malacañang and AFP, Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres, On Tuesday night (Nov. 26), stressed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. is exhausting all available legal resources against the remarks of former President Rodrigo Duterte, which is bordering on sedition.

He revealed that the justice department’s probe on FPRRD’s remarks are part of an ongoing thorough investigation of possible links to the supposed destabilization plot against the administration.

“For him to invite the military to have a part in seeking remedy is bordering on sedition and is legally actionable,” Andres said.

“Iyon pong mga pananalita ng dating pangulong Duterte ay iimbestigahan din natin kasabay nung ibang mga nangyayari [ngayon]. Sa pagkaalam ko po, mayroon ding mga ibang tao na nanghihikayat nang kaunting – I do not know, something of a demonstration. And we do not know whether this is coming from the efforts of the former President or elsewhere. But again, we will have to look at every angle,” he added.

The DOJ official made the remarks rebuking FPRRD’s unfounded claims of fractured governance in the Philippines, eliciting calls for the military to protect the Constitution and rethink their support for the Marcos administration.

“If there is any legal remedy they need to exhaust, the judicial and legal processes are available. I do not know where the President is coming from, that a solution can be coming from the military,” he said.

The justice undersecretary reassured the Filipino people of swift action on the issue and the loyalty of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to the chain of command, emphasizing that  the former president’s remarks will not be taken lightly.
