DOJ to probe Cebu resort incident


The Department of Justice (DOJ) will start its investigation on the alleged incident of discrimination involving a child with autism in a Cebu resort.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he has received a letter from the secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and assured that the agency “will act accordingly” on the matter.

“As chief enforcer of the magna carta for disabled persons, the DOJ will conduct a parallel investigation on the plantation bay incident,” Guevarra stated.

“But we have yet to determine the most expedient way to handle the situation. Our action in this regard may set a precedent for similar situations in the future,” he added. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
