DOJ welcomes GCTA IRR petition

The Department of Justice (DOJ) welcomes the petition lodged by eight inmates of the New Bilibid Prison to the Supreme Court on the new implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law. DOJ Sec Menardo Guevarra sees this is as a good opportunity to determine whether or not people understand the IRR properly, given the different interpretations of various groups. The Supreme Court is the sole institution that can decide with finality on the matter, the Justice Secretary added.
