DOLE: 12K jobs up for grabs at Labor Day job fair

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

Around 12,000 job opportunities will be offered at the Labor Day Job Fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

In the April 23 Laging Handa briefing, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said there are 12,000 jobs to be filled at the Labor Day Job Fair on May 1, of which 2,000 will be hired on the spot (HOTS).

“There are about 12,000 jobs ready for picking. Hopefully, we are looking forward to a possible HOTS. HOTS means hired on the spot, baka sakaling makaka-hire on the spot tayo ng mga dalawang libo”, Bello said.

The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital would also be operational on Labor Day, according to Bello.

“Pero more important than the job fair is the event where we will now deliver to the President his legacy to the OFWs. I’m referring to the delivery of an operational hospital para sa mga OFWs,” he added.

“Dito, magkakaroon tayo ng hospital. They will start operating effective May 1, and all OFWs, kung mayroon silang sakit kasama ang kanilang legal dependents, will be treated in this hospital for free,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Bello vowed to continue providing jobs for unemployed Filipinos and extend assistance to all OFWs, retrenched workers, and those who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. – gb
