DOLE 2 allots P26.2-M livelihood aid

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 has earmarked PHP26.2 million in livelihood fund this year mainly for the vulnerable and informal sectors in Cagayan Valley region.

DOLE 2 officer-in-charge Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena Mirasol said the fund under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) will benefit at least 1,310 individuals in the region’s five provinces.

“With the PHP26.2 million allocated fund for DILEEP, some PHP7.86 million is allocated for the province of Cagayan, PHP10.48 million for Isabela and PHP2.62 million each for the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Batanes,” she said.

The livelihood support provides beneficiaries with startup capital to venture into individual or group undertakings, or additional working capital to enable existing livelihood activities to grow into viable and sustainable business.

DILEEP is being implemented through the DOLE’s Accredited Co-Partners (ACP), usually local government units, which are responsible for the direct delivery of services to the beneficiaries.

The program is also undertaken through direct administration of the Field Offices of DOLE 2.

The DILEEP is among the government programs meant to augment incomes of workers in the informal sector of the economy. (PNA)
