DOLE continues accepting applications for AKAP program

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will continue accepting applications for “Abot Kamay Ang Pagtulong” (AKAP) program which aims to financially aid Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the DOLE, they have received more than 400,000 applications as of May 12. That is almost three times more than the agency’s target of 150, 000 OFWs with an allotted budget of PhP 1.5 billion.

Above 142,000 applications have been approved and aid has been given to more than 100,000 OFWs.

The DOLE has requested for an additional PhP 2.5 billion from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Only PhP 1 billion has been approved.
