DOST study shows lagundi helps in COVID-19 recovery

An initial review by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) showed that lagundi (vitex negundo L.) helps in the recovery of several COVID-19 patients.

Based on the initial results of the study, the infection of the COVID-19 patients who received the lagundi did not become moderate or severe.

According to DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña, there is a difference between the anosmia score as time passes through linear regression and repeated measures analysis of variance through COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms who used lagundi.

He added that aside from no serious adverse effects recorded on those who participated in the trial, there is also no difference between the patients who received the medical plant and those who were given a placebo.

The data analysis on the subject continues for the result of the stage 2 study where 278 patients from different quarantine facilities will participate.
