The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Wednesday (Jan. 19) reported that 89% of its target 399,000 tourism workers are now vaccinated.

“As of Jan. 14, 288,577 na, or 89% of our target 399,000 tourism workers are already bakunado,” DOT Undersecretary Woodrow Maquiling Jr. said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“In fact, pinakamataas dito ay ang Cordillera Administrative Region followed by NCR na more or less nag 99% or 100%. Dito lang sa NCR, around 44,186 tourism workers have been fully vaccinated,” he said.

Maquiling then assured that tourist destinations undergo random spot checks by the agency to maintain readiness and compliance with minimum public health standards.

“We are always doing our spot checks to ensure that mas maganda ang ating mga destinasyon at mas ready sa ating mga turista,” he said. – bny
