DOT reminds public to only book with accredited hotels

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat reminded the public to only book with accredited hotels that have passed the new normal standards.

The DOT shared that many people are searching for staycation hotels amidst the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the number is expected to rise around Valentine’s Day.

Sec. Romulo-Puyat disclosed that only 15 hotels are permitted by the DOT to accept leisure activities.

The list of the 4 and 5-star hotels are Grand Hyatt, Makati Shangri-La, Okada Manila, Shangri-La at the Fort, Nobu Hotel, Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites, EDSA Shangri La, Solaire Resort, Hyatt COD, Nuwa COD, The Peninsula Manila, Aruga by Rockwell, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, and Hotel Okura Manila.

The DOT has been receiving reports of several unaccredited hotels that accept staycation bookings. Some hotels that are used as quarantine facilities have also been reported to accept leisure activity.

Sec. Romulo-Puyat warned of possible closure for hotels that will not follow the protocols.

The DOT Chief advised the public to be keen in booking and ensure that the booked hotel is not a quarantine facility. A show cause order has already been issued to quarantine hotels that violated the health standards.
