DOTr clarifies statement on EDSA toll way

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) clarified that it is not suggesting the establishment of a toll way in EDSA.

In a press statement, the DOTr said that it is only an idea proposed by various stakeholders. The matter has not been formally discussed by its current administration.

According to DOTr Road Sector Consultant Assistant Secretary Bert Suansing, the concept has initially been discussed more than 10 years ago.

The DOTr stated that it is welcoming any suggestions to improve traffic and public transportation. “However, a suggestion does not translate automatically into a proposal nor a project for implementation. Like any project, it has to go through the proper process.”
