The Department of Transportation- Land Transportation Office (DOTr-LTO) has intensified its efforts to promote road safety this holiday season through its implementation of DOTr-LTO Oplan Pasko 2022.

The goal of the plan is to help ensure the comfort of travelers and other road users throughout the country during Christmas and New Year.

“It is this time of the year where the usage of our country’s roads is at its peak, but discipline on the road must still be maintained so that travelers feel safe in their journey,” LTO Chief Asec. Jose Arturo Tugade said.

“There is no excuse not to practice road safety. It is very important in order to avoid crashes and injuries to people, damage to property, and of course, prevent fatalities,” he added.

Law enforcement officers will conduct terminal and roadside inspections to determine the road worthiness of motor vehicles, as well as traffic flow monitoring and information dissemination.

The LTO will also ensure that health and minimum public protocols are observed amid the still-present threat of COVID-19.

“In the last two years, we were not able to go to places to hold parties or go on vacation and visit our families,” he said.

“Now, we have the opportunity to travel, but it should be done safely so that every family can celebrate Christmas peacefully, safely, happy and whole,” Tugade added. -ag
