DOTr urges public: Report corrupt officials, personnel

Clark City, Pampanga — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday called on the public to report suspected cases of corruption involving officials and personnel of the agency in a move to further cleanse its ranks and to better serve the people.

DOTr Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Procurement Reinier Paul Yebra said the agency is more than willing to receive and probe into such reports as this would make the services rendered to the public more efficient.

Yebra also underscored the important role of public vigilance in addressing the issue of corruption in government bureaucracy.

“Corruption is a disease that needs to be cured through vigilance and principled political will. Ayaw ni Presidente (Duterte) at ni Secretary (Arthur Tugade) ng korapsyon kaya ito ay mahigpit na binabantayan sa DOTr,” Yebra said.

“Inaanyayahan po namin ang taong bayan na maging mapagbantay at isumbong at kahit anumang bahid ng korapsyon na kanilang nalalaman,” he added.

To report any incident or case of corruption, Yebra said the public can report them to the following official social media accounts of the DOTr :

FB and Twitter accounts – @DOTrPH
Email account – [email protected] / [email protected]
Hotline – 7890
Direct line – ‎726-6255 (loc. 232)

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade earlier ordered the filing of administrative charges against Roberto Delfin, a supervising transportation and development officer assigned to the Road Transport Planning Division, for allegedly accepting bribes from a transport cooperative.

Delfin, who had been slapped with a 90-day preventive suspension order, purportedly received, through his aide Narciso Lim, PHP150,000 in exchange for the DOTr’s supposed favorable action on New Sunrise Transport Cooperative’s (NTSC) application for a route measure capacity.

“The said amount is in addition to other gifts and favors you asked for and received from NTSC, including escort services and all-expense paid accommodation in a private resort,” the formal charge read.

Tugade has reiterated several times that corruption will be eliminated under the administration of President Duterte.

“Nagbabala na ako sainyo noon pang simula. Wala dapat bahid ng korapsyon sa ating sistema, dahil oras na may mahuli ako, hindi ako mangingiming tanggalin ka. Ayaw natin ng ganyan. Ayaw ng Presidente ng ganyan,” Tugade said. (PNA)
