DPWH allots P93-M for Zamboanga airport road widening

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has allocated PHP93.1 million for road widening project in this city.

First district Rep. Celso Lobregat on Wednesday said the project forms part of the Build, Build, Build program of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Lobregat, the House Committee on Public Works and Highways chair, said the project would widen the Zamboanga City Airport road to the junction of Baliwasan Chico and linking to the present main access road in San Jose Gusu junction.

He said the San Jose Gusu junction would also be channelled for the smooth flow of traffic for motorists plying the west coast route.

He said the widening of the Zamboanga City Airport road would be implemented this year by the DPWH district engineering office (DPWH-DEO).

Earlier, Lobregat said the DPWH-DEP was also tasked to widen by two-lane the Gov. Camins Avenue from the junction of Mayor Agan Avenue to Sta. Maria road.

The DPWH allocated PHP75.4 million for the project to include the widening of the San Ignacio Bridge. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr./PNA)
