DPWH completes P673-M infra projects in Tarlac

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Tarlac First District Engineering Office (TDEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction and improvement of various infrastructure projects worth some PHP673 million in 2017.

District Engineer Erelina B. Santos, in her report submitted to the DPWH regional office here, said the 1st  TDEO has constructed and rehabilitated approximately 42 kilometers of roads in Tarlac which composed of four kilometers (national); 4.45 kilometers (secondary) and 37.63 kilometers  (tertiary).

For bridge structures, Santos said the 1st TDEO has built an expanse of 31 lineal meters valued at PHP14 million.

To mitigate the excessive flooding being experienced by the province during the rainy season, she said the 1st TDEO has undertaken 28 flood control projects which include the Aguso Phase IV flood control along Camiling river and the Masalasa creek flood control  in Amucao section, Tarlac City.

Likewise, she said the 1st TDEO  completed a total of  46 other infrastructure projects.

These were farm-to-market roads, bridges along local roads, water systems, school buildings, national buildings, multi-purpose buildings, day-care centers and health center with an aggregate amount of PHP461 million.

The 1st TDEO also completed projects of non-infrastructure agencies, and other special projects like the construction and improvement of 10-kilometer farm-to-market roads worth PHP57 million in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the construction of 20 school buildings  worth PHP63.30 million, in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Santos likewise said 86 percent of the 86 total infrastructure projects in Tarlac with an allotted PHP2.7 billion budget in 2017, have so far been completed.

For 2018, she added, the 1st TDEO proposed a PHP97.55-million budget for the construction and rehabilitation of some  bypass and arterial roads in Tarlac. (Zorayda Tecson/PNA)
