DPWH to replace 100 manhole covers in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Second Engineering District of Pangasinan will spend PHP732,000 to replace some 100 manholes with new covers here next month.

Bernard Caronongan, district information officer of DPWH-Pangasinan, said the project was bidded out on May 15.

“There are destroyed manhole covers particularly in the city which needs to be fixed for the safety of the motorists and the people,” he said during the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas forum on Thursday.

“We expect that by June, the new manhole covers will be put in place,” he added.

There were reports in the past of accidents due to open manholes, or temporary manhole covers in the city.

Caronongan said their district office will also conduct operation drainage declogging and repainting of pedestrian lanes in support to this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” school clean-up program. (PNA)
