DPWH to build 816 more COVID-19 quarantine facilities, modular hospitals

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to build 816 additional COVID-19 quarantine facilities and modular hospitals next month. 

In President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s weekly address Monday (April 19), DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said they plan for these facilities to have a capacity of 27,262 beds. He added that the department has already completed 653 facilities with a bed capacity of more than 24,000.

Meanwhile, the DPWH reported that 187 evacuation centers in various parts of the country are currently being used as quarantine centers.
