ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is preparing for the implementation of an PHP800-million road project linking this city and the province of Zamboanga del Norte.
Engr. Olivia Baguio of the DPWH central office said Tuesday the project will be funded by the national government and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Baguio, who was in the city to brief local officials, said the road project will be 33.125 kilometers long and includes two bridges, slope protection, and box culverts. It will begin in Barangay Curuan here towards Zamboanga del Norte via the town of Sibuco.
“The project will help improve the lives of the people there (in Curuan and Sibuco),” Baguio said.
She said the procurement process will be made in the third quarter of this year while the road construction on the first quarter of 2020. The project would be completed in two years.
She said that 283 houses in Barangay Curua will be affected by the project.
Meanwhile, the City Council has passed a resolution to allocate funds to purchase 2.5 hectares to serve as relocation site of the 283 families that will be affected by the project.
