The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon be completing the widening of two (2) major bridges along the busy Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road in the province of Leyte.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon said that the improvement of Pinamitinan Bridge in Capoocan town and Jugaban Bridge in Carigara town will enhance the transport of goods and services that will have significant impact to the economic activities in these areas.
The Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road is one of Leyte’s major and busiest highway linking the cities of Tacloban and Ormoc in the Eastern Visayas Region.
The 23.4 meters Pinamitinan Bridge project which is undergoing widening works in the amount of P21.46 million is scheduled to be completed by the last quarter of 2017 while the 12.66-meter Jugaban Bridge costing P4.606 million in Carigara town is expected to be completed this September 2017.
“Both bridge projects involve the widening projects from two (2) lanes into four (4) lanes that complement to the road widening projects that are also being undertaken by the DPWH within the province,” Tabacon added. | DPWH-PR
