DPWH to undertake PHP3.5-B infra projects in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office will implement this year 180 infrastructure projects worth PHP3.5 billion in the second and fourth congressional districts of the province.

District Engineer Rodolfo Dion said four of these projects are priorities, including the Lingayen-Binmaley Bypass Road (phase 2), Daang Kalikasan Mangatarem (phase 1), Concreting of Road in Aguilar (phase 1), and Completion of Casa Real (phase 3).

Dion said the PHP1-billion second phase of Lingayen-Binmaley Bypass Road project would cover the construction of a six-kilometer road and four new bridges.

He noted the concreting of the 20-kilometer road in Aguilar going to Sitio Mapita will begin construction with an initial funding of PHP800 million.

Dion further said the Daang Kalikasan in Mangatarem would also have its initial funding of PHP400 million. It is a 56-kilometer road that would adjoin to the Sta. Cruz Zambales road.

Moreover, the Casa Real, a historical site located in Lingayen, will soon be fully rehabilitated with PHP80 million earmarked for its final phase this year, he added.

A total of PHP110 million had been allocated for the project since its renovation started last 2016.

Meanwhile, Dion admitted his office still has one unfinished project from 2017 in Pantal Dagupan City.

“The protection wall in Pantal is now 80 percent completed; we are just behind schedule for this project because of some uncontrolled circumstances but it will be finished soon, and we will have 100 percent completion of all projects from 2017,” he said.

Apart from the big infrastructure projects, Dion said his office continues with its regular infrastructure program, such as flood control, multi-purpose building construction, among others.

Aguilar, Basista, Binmaley, Bugallon, Labrador, Lingayen, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo comprise the second congressional district of Pangasinan; while the fourth congressional district is composed of Mangaldan, Manaoag, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Dagupan City. (PNA)
