Drug suspect killed in Santa Rosa City

CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – A drug suspect included in the Santa Rosa City police watchlist was killed when he fired at police operatives during a buy-bust operation early dawn Thursday

In his report to PNP Chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, Calabarzon Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar identified the suspect as Lorenzo Valdez alias “Undoy”, resident of Barangay Caingin in that city. He was killed during a shootout with members of the city police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) under the Laguna Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Kirby John Brion Kraft.

Reports showed that the Santa Rosa City DEU team, led by Supt. Eugene J. Orate, conducted the buy-bust operations around 12:05 a.m. Thursday in Phase 2, Barangay Caingin, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), media representatives and an elected official.

Eleazar said that a police poseur buyer transacted with the suspect who sold a heat sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu. Sensing he was dealing with an undercover cop, the suspect immediately drew his firearm and shot at the policeman and the back-up team.

Recovered from the suspect was a Colt .45 pistol and eight heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu. (PNA)
