Drug suspects nabbed, drug den dismantled

COTABATO CITY — Anti-narcotics agents arrested Wednesday four suspected drug traffickers and users during anti-drug operations, officials said.

Juvenal Azurin, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM), said suspected drug dealer Maira Akmad was arrested in Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City, but her husband, Saidali managed to elude arrest.

Saidali apparently was tipped off of the 9 a.m. drug buy bust.

Azurin said the couple, who had been under surveillance for the past week, was engaged in peddling methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu” in the village and nearby communities.

Azurin said police and PDEA operatives are hunting down Saidali who reportedly sourced his supply from Maguindanao Baliwan drug group.

In a separate operation, PDEA-ARMM agents also arrested Sherma Angkay Ampuan for operating a drug den beside his home in another village not far from Barangay Rosary Heights 10.

Ibrahim Dela Cerna Talusob and Rico Badilla, were also arrested after they were caught sniffing shabu during the operation in Barangay Bagua 3, also in Cotabato City.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects now detained at PDEA-ARMM jail.(PNA-PR)
