DSWD best performing gov’t agency, DepEd most trusted – OCTA

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has earned the top spot among the best performing government agencies, while the Department of Education (DepEd) was named the most trusted, a recent survey from OCTA Research revealed.

Based on the 4th Quarter Tugon ng Masa survey released on Thursday, the DSWD scored an 86% in performance rating, followed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with 82%, Department of Education (DepEd) with 81%, Department of Health (DOH) with 78%, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with 76%.

The five aforementioned agencies were the same ones to have topped the list according to trust rating, with DepEd getting an 84% approval score followed by CHED (83%), DSWD (82%), DOH (80%), and DPWH (75%).

Meanwhile, the DSWD welcomed the results of the survey and attributed the high public satisfaction rating to its “hardworking angels in red vests” – personnel who bring the agency’s services closer to the marginalized sector.

“We in the DSWD believe that the agency’s new innovations such as the Food Stamp Program, the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program, and Project Pag-Abot contributed to the Department’s being No. 1 in satisfaction rating among government agencies,” DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez.

Lopez added that the TNM survey proves the agency’s social protection programs have satisfied the needs of the Filipinos and vowed to continue “to protect the vulnerable poor and marginalized” under the helm of Secretary Rex Gatchalian. – avds
