DSWD continues packing of relief goods for ‘Odette’ victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga on Sunday (Dec. 19) continued to pack relief items for areas severely affected by Typhoon Odette.

20,000 food packs and non-food items have also been prepositioned in Agusan del Norte, Surigao City, and Surigao del Sur.

“No need to worry kasi ‘yung ibang field offices natin, they will be sending family food packs nila and non-food items dito sa regions na pinaka-apektado ng bagyo. I heard Region 11 and Region 12 [ay] nagpre-prepare na ng augmentation nila,” DSWD Caraga information officer Marko Davey Reyes said.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Civil Relations Service has delivered the first batch of relief supplies for the affected families in Surigao del Norte along with Siargao Island and Del Carmen.

Forty-seven tourists who were stranded in Siargao were also taken back to Manila by plane flown by PCG. -Report from Patrick de Jesus/PG – bny
